About the event
The LMNA gene plays a crucial role in the structure of our cells. A mutation in this gene can lead to heart and muscle problems, such as a weakened heart muscle (cardiomyopathy), heart failure, or cardiac arrhythmias. Early detection and prevention are essential: regular monitoring and, in some cases, implanting a pacemaker or ICD can reduce the risk of complications.
To raise awareness about these LMNA-related cardiac conditions, Hart in Shape is organizing a webinar in collaboration with LMNA Cardiac. Researcher, LMNA expert, and cofounder of LMNA Cardiac, Dr. Rogier Veltrop (Maastricht University), will explain:
- What exactly LMNA is
- The importance of prevention and early detection
- What it means to live with an LMNA mutation
- Which conditions people with an LMNA mutation often develop
There will also be time to ask questions.
Who should attend?
Whether you have an LMNA mutation, are a close relative, a healthcare professional, or simply interested in the topic — everyone is welcome to register. Please feel free to share this with anyone who might benefit.
Also consider joining the LMNA group on Hart in Shape — it’s a community where you can find reliable information, ask questions, and connect with others. The group is managed by the cofounder of LMNA Cardiac, Stefan Bassant.
Registration
To participate, please sign up via the registration form on the site.
During registration, you’ll be asked:
- Whether you are a member of the Hart in Shape community
- In what capacity you will attend (e.g. heart patient, cardiologist, healthcare professional, researcher, or other)
This webinar will be held in Dutch.
